Choosing a Horse
Available horses are listed on the website complete with multiple photographs, riding and lunging video(s), and a detailed description. Approved adopters can schedule an appointment to view the horses or choose to adopt based on website information and an interview.
Adoption fees range from fee waived up to $2,500, with the average being around $500. Fees are based upon the age and physical limitations, if any, of the horse. In cases when we have horses waitlisted at the track, we may sometimes lower or waive adoption fees. Adoption fees can be paid by credit card, PayPal, cash or check.
The adoption contract is for one year. Should the horse prove unsuitable for the purpose adopted, it can be returned however the adoption fee is non-refundable although a credit may be applied towards another horse. After one year the horse may be sold, but ReRun has the first right of refusal and must be notified with the contact information for the new owner. Horses may not be sold via livestock or public auction or with the intent of being used for human consumption or for export outside of the U.S.
Once the adoption process is complete, we ask that all attempts are made to collect the horse within a reasonable time frame of 14 days. Transportation companies can be found on our helpful links page.
